Investing in the Political Beyond

In this article, the author employs performative writing to explore the complications and contradictions that inhere in the experience of audiencing our nation's investment in the war in the Middle East. The question of how we can know the truth given the prevalence of rhetorical spin from politicians and pundits coupled with the brute fact of the loss of so many American lives is considered.
