Narratives in the Old NeighborhoodAn Ethnographic Study of an Urban Neighborhood's StoriesPurdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana Communities are created, sustained, and challenged through narratives. These narratives are many and may represent multiple forms. Furthermore, these multiple and varying narratives may act together as a narrative thread that ties the community together in a narrative package. Yet it is also possible that sequestered narratives challenge the narratives' seemingly coherent identity of the community. Whether and how the multiple stories dialogue to create a whole is explored in this ethnographic study of an urban neighborhood.
