DOI: 10.1177/1077800403257676 Deep Play in a Poker Rally: A Sunday among the Ferraristi of Long IslandUniversity of North Carolina at Greensboro This article provides a narrative account of a "poker rally" conducted by Ferrari owners and enthusiasts on Long Island, New York. Evoking Clifford Geertzs treatment of a Balinese cockfight, the author uses this elite event to interpret this ritual drama experientially and textually, thus offering a reading of Ferrari culture and of some persistent problems associated, ever since Geertzs essay, with narrative ethnography.
